A Legacy Brewed in Resilience
At Ithaga Highlands Coffee, our journey began in the highlands of Cherangani, Kenya—born from hardship, nurtured by hope.
In 1992, post-election violence forced my family to flee. I was just nine. A young cousin took us in, working on land she didn’t own. One day, hungry and curious, I tasted my first coffee cherry—sweet and red. I didn’t know then how deeply it would shape my future.
Later, I asked my mother what “Ithaga Riakwa” meant—a name she often
called all her children.
“It means my precious inheritance,” she said. “When all else is gone, you
remain.”
That moment planted a seed. I dreamed of building more than a farm—of
creating a legacy of strength, ownership, and opportunity, especially for
women.
Caleb – Co-Founder & Visionary
Caleb’s journey with Ithaga Highlands Coffee began with a simple yet powerful dream—to share the soul of Kenyan coffee with the world while creating real change at its roots. Raised around stories of resilience and community, he saw coffee not just as a crop, but as a bridge between cultures and livelihoods. His vision goes beyond selling beans; it’s about telling the stories of farmers, preserving traditions, and opening global markets to the vibrant flavors of Africa’s highlands. Every step he takes with Ithaga is guided by the belief that coffee can inspire hope, opportunity, and connection—one cup at a time.
